A Poem for Easter Day
My heart is lifted with this new daybreak
And, like this day, my soul will, too, awake.
The veil of dawn reveals the golden sun
And the resurrection of God’s only son.
He, who cured the blind, the sick and lame -
Nailed to a cross and left to die in shame –
Rose from the tomb upon this Easter morn
And came to comfort all of us who mourn.
May we, like Him, from sin and hatred turn
And seek the peace and love we dearly yearn.
Thus, seeking all things good we well could find
Great things which God provides for all mankind.
