Alli, Mellie, Moll and I
Walked in a field of green.
Then Alli stopped and yelled: 'Look here!'
At something that he’d seen.
'It’s only dandelions,' said Moll –
'They’re just a common weed.'
And we all looked at them and laughed
And all of us agreed.
But Alli said: 'They’re beautiful!
Look at their golden heads –
And, see, they are not common weeds
Except in Mum’s flower bed.'
'Their pretty heads are brilliant!'
These words we heard him say,
And: 'I’m going to pick a golden bunch
For Mum for Mother’s Day.'
And so he picked a great big bunch.
His sisters laughed and teased
But Mum accepted them with love
And her face showed she was pleased.
