I keep a penguin in my pocket –

By why, I cannot tell –

He’s happy travelling round with me

     And penguins never smell.

I keep a penguin in my pocket –

   You’d never know it’s there –

Though when it peeps outside – my word!

    Well, people start to stare!

I keep a penguin in my pocket –

But the children all tell me

They think that I am rather cruel

    For penguins like the sea.

I keep a penguin in my pocket –

And I expect that you do too.

It helps me write the daftest poems

When there’s little else to do.
