THOSE POEMS

Poems that sleep on the page of a book

Need to be woken, and urgently shook.

They ought to be lifted and then read aloud,

In a way that the reader can justly be proud.

Read with expression, with a voice that is clear,

With tone in your voice that brings laughter or fear.

Don’t waken your poems from their daily snooze

And perform them by reading, your voice in your shoes.

Add a sprinkling of drama, add music or dance

For mixed well with poetry, they'll surely enhance.

Do a stunning performance to prove you're the best -

And then return those poems to their pages to rest.
